Development XV Match report – by Mark Frost

Tow’s 2s travelled away again this time to Peterborough Lions on a high from the recent good form. This week Tow’s had a tougher match against the Lions compared to last season when the Lions were handed a thrashing by a extremely well drilled squad . From the start both sides tried to show the strength but it was the Lions who had the upper hand in the scrums with a large strong pack so Tows looked for a weakness else where and found it in the 8th minute with 2nd row Rob Lee’s and the with on form Callum Garwood kicking the score was 7 -0.

It took Tows until the 33rd minute when centre Adam Wilkinson made a break to score Tow’s 2nd try and another conversion from Callum Garwood, On the restart Tow’s became sloppy with missed tackles allowing the Lions centre to cross the line to give them their 1st try and conversion of the game , With Tow’s trying to up the pressure Peterborough decided to punch there way out literally with Towcester forwards not wanting to miss out it ended in 2 yellows for the Lions and one for the capt Matt Huck , The second half started pretty much as the first with both sides trying to dominate the Tows again made the break through this time winger Kris Ancil and a few minutes later Alex Chalcraft making a sprint to the line , Again Tows let all the hard work slip as Peterborough came back with another try and conversion and the there heads up hit Towcester again with another missed tackled try, Some changes to the squad saw Robbie Sheppard , Charlie Hillman and Toby brought on to add some fresh legs and strength which paid off with Charlie Green and Matt Yuill both scoring a try each and with the wind deciding to blow more resulted in 2 missed conversions. Final score with another win for the Tow’s 41-19
